Check out these famous entrepreneurs who had business coaching and see what made them stand out.
In the book ‘ Outliers ‘, Malcolm Gladwell tells us that it isn’t genius or luck that has brought success to famous entrepreneurs.
Many of them have got coached by a business person, and they’ve had to work hard.
Their success is a combination of good coaching, talent, and a considerable amount of hard work.
Let’s take a look at some celebrities who engaged business coaches early on in their careers:
1. SERENDIPITY EARLY BEGINNINGS
It was 1980, and Madonna moved to New York City from her native Detroit.
She was having trouble finding gigs and took a job as a waitress…, she did get noticed and began her career as a singer.
But, before she was ‘discovered’ by the music industry,
Madonna had to deal with terrible bouts of clinical depression.
She decided to try something different and started taking dance lessons; while there, she asked one of her teachers if he could teach her how to sing …he referred her to a voice coach who taught Madonna how to sing and would remain with the star for many years.
Soon after,
Madonna signed her first record deal and released ‘ Everybody ‘.
2. APPRECIATE THE LESSONS
Those who don’t know the music mogul Sean Combs is better known as P. Diddy. He’s worked with many famous artists, Destiny’s Child, Usher and Snoop Dogg, to name a few.
What was P.Diddy doing before becoming one of the industry’s most sought-after music producers?
Like Madonna, he too took dance classes to improve his skills as an entertainer… after his dance instructor referred him to a voice coach, Sean P. Diddy Combs started his journey to becoming one of the most successful music producers in history.
3. BE WISE ABOUT WHEN TO STOP
Everyone knows that Steven Spielberg is an ‘overnight’ success story… but it didn’t happen overnight at all! The movie director was rejected from college three times and applied to Universal Studios, but he didn’t get a job there either, even though the world knows Spielberg as one of the most famous film directors today.
It was once said that ‘he couldn’t direct his way out of a paper bag’. He started going to classes being taught by director William Wyler.
Wyler became Spielberg’s mentor. Steven Spielberg has worked very hard his whole life, and it shows as he continues to make movies that dazzle the world.
4. THE PIONEER OF POP CULTURE
Madonna wasn’t the only woman who got her business coaching from her dance instructor.
The fashionista Coco Chanel was also taught dance.
And, as we know, she went on to be one of the most renowned fashion designers and worth over $800 million today.
5. THE LADY OF FASHION
Coco Chanel wasn’t just famous for her business acumen; she’s also the woman who made pantsuits a part of a woman’s wardrobe.
That’s right, way before the Spice Girls banned them from their concerts, Coco Chanel was rockin’ a pair of her design… after she took some lessons from a business coach who taught her how to design and create top-selling clothing items.
6. MASS PRODUCTION FOR THE PEOPLE
The man who revolutionized the way people bought products, Henry Ford, was also educated by a business coach.
He started his life as an apprentice machinist at the Edison Illuminating Company… but later became one of the biggest names in automotive history.
7. THE WORLD’S FAVORITE CAR
Henry Ford worked extremely hard to make cars part of everyday life around the world.
But what does this have to do with business coaching?
Well, after working as a machinist for many years, he returned to school and was introduced to one of his most influential teachers… Edward Kingsley Bagley.
He taught Henry Ford how to draw blueprints and Price Waterhouse Coopersgave him a job as a draftsman.
Within a short amount of time, Henry Ford became a successful businessman and was known for his mass production techniques which revolutionized the way people bought cars.
8. THE GALL OF AN ANGEL
Lady Gaga might have been destined to become famous one day… but it wasn’t just her talent that helped her get there.
Even today, the ‘Just Dance’ singer isn’t afraid to admit that she needed help getting into the music industry… just like other famous entrepreneurs have done in the past.
9. TELL THE WORLD YOUR BIG IDEA!
It’s difficult for people to believe that Facebook wasn’t Mark Zuckerberg’s idea entirely on his own!
He first heard about the social networking site while attending Harvard University, but he didn’t have enough money to develop it.
At first, Mark Zuckerberg turned to his own family for help because more traditional fundraising methods weren’t working out.
Though they were one of the wealthiest families around at that time, Mark’s parents only agreed to give him$1,000.
After he used that money to get started, Facebook was introduced to three of his classmates who invested. The rest is history!
